ELECTRICAL DESIGNER III
Overview
Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Higher level education, degrees, or certifications are considered a benefit.
Experience: 3 plus years of experience preferred.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
As an Electrical Designer III, the candidate shall be able to lead an electrical design which encompasses the development of project deliverables for the assigned projects. The candidate must exhibit a comprehensive understanding of electrical design principles, construction techniques, theories, typical applications, codes, standards, published recommendations, and concepts associated with the electrical, instrumentation and automation systems as required to complete project designs. The Electrical Designer III may be required to operate as design lead for the assigned project(s) and must be responsible for organizing and coordinating design and drafting related design elements required for the completion of the project. The candidate must have the ability to schedule and forecast assignments and tasks over the duration of the project(s) and execute the work within the project schedule and budget constraints as defined by the executed contract. The candidate shall be responsible for participating in the verification of all electrical, instrumentation and automation system deliverables, and coordinating with other discipline leads to ensure all QAQC processes have been followed prior to the Engineer of Record review and approval of the developed package. This shall include:

Gathering equipment datasheets and organizing the project equipment list

Equipment layout

Equipment sizing, specification, and layout

Cross discipline coordination
-
Data/field acquisition to support essential design functions

Development of 3D raceway, duct bank, and equipment models for the generation of project plans/deliverables

Development of drawing packages that contain but is not limited to the following:

Single Line Diagrams

Motor Elementary drawings

Control panel schematics
-
Control panel layout drawings

Control System network diagrams
-
Electrical System interconnect drawings

Conduit and Tray layouts

Device location drawings

Grounding Plans

P&IDs

Loop Sheets
-
Conduit and Conductor sizing

Overcurrent Device sizing
-
Load calculations
-
Installation details
-
Motor Control Center arrangements

Development of Contractor Scopes of Work and/or Engineering Instructions
Experience
The following training and/or experience is typical for this position.

Proficiency with the Autodesk Suite of CAD software packages with specific focus on AutoCAD, AutoCAD MEP, AutoCAD Electrical, AutoCAD Plant 3D or equivalent 3D modeling packages.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite of products.

Proficiency working with data acquired and processed from 3D laser scanning and using the data to develop confirm equipment layout and conflict avoidance.

Familiarity with the API, NFPA, ISA, IEEE, IESNA, ANSI, and other industry standards.

Ability to develop plans and maintain a schedule related to assigned work or tasks.

Ability to travel to project sites to collect field data to perform field inspections, which may involve being out of town for multiple days at a time.

Ability to organize and schedule teams for executing site visits to acquire and document field data, and to verify the data collected is the correct information needed for the application.
