ELECTRICAL ENGINEER II
Overview
Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited University.
Registration: EIT certification or active pursuit of EIT certification is expected.
Experience: 2 plus years of experience preferred.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
As an Electrical Engineer II, the candidate shall be required to work with the engineering and design team to develop drawing packages, specifications, and reports to support the implementation of solutions for our client's project and application needs. The candidate must understand fundamental engineering principles, theories, typical applications, codes, standards, published recommendations, and concepts associated with the design of electrical systems. The Electrical Engineer II will be under the responsible charge of the Electrical Engineer of Record for each project and will support the development of the electrical project deliverables and associated engineering analysis and calculations. This shall include:

Equipment sizing, specification, and selection

Electrical system analysis (e.g., fault current, load flow, overcurrent device coordination, arc flash, transient motor starting, etc.)

Lighting system analysis
-
Generator sizing calculations
-
Generation and documentation of supporting calculations
-
Equipment layout
-
Equipment sizing, specification, and layout
-
Cross discipline coordination
-
Participation in project related meetings
-
Data acquisition to support essential design functions
-
Development of drawing packages that contain but is not limited to the following:

Single Line Diagrams
-
Motor Elementary Drawings
-
Control panel schematics
-
Control panel layout drawings
-
Control System network diagrams
-
Electrical system interconnect drawings
-
Conduit and Tray layouts
-
Device location drawings
-
Grounding plans
-
Panel schedules
-
P&IDs
-
Loop sheets
-
-
Development of Contractor Scopes of Work and/or Engineering Instructions.
Training
As an engineer working toward Profession Registration, it would be expected that the candidate would actively be working to gain the knowledge and skills required to pass the PE exam as well as become proficient with the skills and tools needed to effectively complete the engineering assignments. In addition, the following training and/or experience is not required, however is considered a benefit as it directly correlates to building a thorough understanding of the engineering process as well as understanding how to efficiently execute routine engineering tasks.

Experience with Autodesk Suite of CAD software packages such as AutoCAD Plant 3D, AutoCAD, Revit, etc.

Electrical system analysis software (SKM, EasyPower, ETAP)

Lighting analysis software (Dialux, Visual, AGI)

Familiarity with the API, NFPA, ANSI, IEEE, IESNA, ISA and other industry standards
Requirements

Ability to develop plans and maintain a schedule related to assigned work or tasks.

Ability to travel to project sites to collect field data to perform field inspections, which may involve being out of town for multiple days at a time.
