MECHANICAL ENGINEER IV
Overview
Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited University.
Registration: Professional Engineering registration is required.
Experience: 4 plus years of experience preferred.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
As a Mechanical Engineer IV, the candidate shall be able to lead a design team in the development of drawing packages, specifications, and reports for the completion of assigned projects. The candidate must exhibit a complete understanding of engineering principles, theories, typical applications, codes, standards, published recommendations, and concepts associated with the mechanical engineering as required to complete project or system designs. The Mechanical Engineer IV will typically operate as Mechanical Engineer of Record for the assigned project(s) and lead and delegate assignments to the engineering and design support staff assigned to the project. This candidate must have the ability to schedule and forecast the assigned team over the duration of the project(s) and manage the engineering team within the project schedule and budget constraints as defines by the executed contract. This candidate shall be responsible for all mechanical project deliverables and associated engineering analysis and calculations, which shall include:

Equipment sizing, specification, and selection

Mechanical system analysis (e.g., flow, pipe stress, vibration, pulsation, heat transfer, temperature control, etc.)

Generation and documentation of supporting calculations
-
Equipment layout
-
Pipe sizing, specification, and layout
-
Cross discipline coordination
-
Participation in project related meetings
-
Data acquisition to support essential design functions
-
Development of drawing packages that contain but is not limited to the following:
-
Site plans depicting locations of mechanical equipment locations and associated pipe routing
-
Mechanical equipment and piping plans and sections
-
Mechanical general arrangement (GA) drawings
-
Piping Isometrics (ISOs)
-
Mechanical bills of material (BOM)
-
Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
-
Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs)
-
-
Development of Contractor Scopes of Work and/or Engineering Instructions
-
Develop or participate in the development of proposals based on client Requests for Proposal.
Experience
The following training and/or experience is typical for this position.

Experience with Autodesk Suite of CAD software packages such as AutoCAD Plant 3D, AutoCAD, Revit, etc.

Pipe stress analysis

Fluid modeling
-
Finite Element Analysis
-
Familiarity with the API, NFPA, ANSI, and other industry standards
Requirements

Ability to communicate to colleagues and project team members to ensure successful execution and completion of tasks.

Ability to develop plans and maintain a schedule related to assigned work or tasks.

Ability to travel to project sites to collect field data to perform field inspections, which may involve being out of town for multiple days at a time.

Ability to organize and schedule teams for executing site visits to acquire and document field data, and to verify the data collected is the correct information needed for the application.
